2012 Wheat Festival Schedule of Events

 

Tuesday, July 10th

  6:00 p.m.   Baby & Toddler Contests, Wellington High School Auditorium, Entry forms available at the Chamber, ages 6-24 months, entry fee is $5  (Sponsored by Family Hair Parlor)

  Wednesday, July 11th

7:30 a.m.   Wheat Festival Kick-Off Breakfast- Hosted by Premiere Sponsor, Impact Bank, the Wellington Area Chamber Board and Wheat Festival Committee- Members and Sponsors are invited to this exclusive kick off for the 2012 Kansas Wheat Festival at Impact Bank.

  8:00 a.m. Joni Ford Memorial Wheat Festival Baking Contest-  Pre-registration is required, entry forms available at the Chamber.  Entries will be judged and winners will be         announced at the Picnic in the Park. (Sponsored by Rivercross Hospice, Golden Living Center, US Cellular, Larry Ford, Pure Romance & Angels Home Health)

10:00 a.m. Wheat Commission Baking Demonstration, Senior Center

 11:00 a.m. Entertainment and lunch at the Senior Center featuring John Chitwood- Lunch reservations required by calling (620)326-3942 by 10:30am on Tuesday, July 10th, Cost is $2.50 for ages 60+, under 60 is $4.50

 Noon          Baker’s Bonanza Bake Sale-Senior Center

 6:00 p.m.   Ottaway Carnival – $22 Wristband special from 6-10pm.

6:00 p.m.   Picnic in the Park, Melody Bowl in Woods Park, 200 block South High.  (Sponsored by the Sumner County Community Drug Action Team)

6:00 p.m.   Wellington Noon Lion’s Club Feed- The nooners will be serving Beef Brisket meals for $6.00 and Children’s Hot Dog Meals for $3.00.   

6:00 p.m.   Fire Safety House, Melody Bowl, Come and visit with members of the Wellington Fire Department and learn fire safety tips, free and open to the public

 
6:00 p.m.   Kid’s Games and Cool Crafts, Join the WRC for a Fun Fest and Spin Art during the Picnic in the Park, Melody Bowl. (Provided by the Wellington Recreation Commission)
